A Children's Game Turns Sinister In New #TheWitch Clip

GREETINGS, GOREHOUNDS!

Ever since it's premiere at Sundance 2015 THE WITCH has been at the tip of everyone's collective tongues. It's the been touted as the scariest film of last year's festival circuit, with journalists, reviewers and even genre filmmakers all chiming in to tip their hats.

But can a film live up to such hype? Is this the genuine article, or another disappointment in the making? Well, if this new clip is any indication THE WITCH looks to be to be something quite atmospheric if nothing else:

Damn, I must admit I'm loving the tension here! Plus it's genius how they subvert your expectations by not following a "Peek-A-Boo" with a conventional "Boo Scare." It's a good sign, and here's hoping the movie lives up to this promise.

But what do you think, my fellow gorehounds? Does the hype look genuine, or are you worried it's just all talk? Chime in below, or #TheWitch on Twitter with your thoughts.

THE WITCH hits theaters February 19th, was written/directed by Robert Eggers and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie.
