Blood Splattered Adaptations: Cujo (1983)


GREETINGS, GOREHOUNDS!

This week The Horror Guru the rabid dog film CUJO to it's original source material.

CUJO was directed by Lewis Teague, written by Lauren Currier & Don Carlos Dunaway based on a novel by Stephen King and stars Dee Wallace, Daniel Hugh Kelly, Danny Pintauro.

  1. Hey there... just found your blog, and though and COMPLETELY disagree with you on this one, I like your reviews and I'm happy to see some kind of attention to novels as well as entertainment.

    The movie fucking SUCKS! I HATE, HATE HATE HATE FUCKING HATE IT! But hey, that's my opinion. I just feel it's such a cheesy horror film, and the book had me in tears by the end. For the dog. Yeah, maybe the kid set the mood, but that last page (which you quoted) broke me. I'm a fucking pussy when it comes to dogs. You can commid genocide and hey, thats tragic and all, but you fuck with the dog and oh man...

    Aaaaanyways, I just found your stuff, I'll be checking it up. You've got to do something about the search feature though, it doesn't seem to work properly.

  5. I do like the movie but the novel is so much richer. King's ending is more honest. I don't like King's bleakness, but I think it is like a Wagnerian opera. It keeps with the tone of the entire book and I just don't see it as cynical, I guess.
